2021 Holiday Gift Guide

2021 Holiday Gift Guide

Some friends of the shop took some time to pick-out some of their must-have items for this Holiday season. Scroll through to read a little bit about each person and learn about some of their favorite items in the shop!

Sharday Renee

Festive greetings! As my handle reads, my name is Sharday. Wife to one and mama of three. Giving and receiving gifts holds such delight for me and I live by these words: "gift often and gift well". Gifting doesn't have to be material, we personally pursue gifting experiences to others and being thoughtful in the process, but when it is an item, our intention is to gift from a small shop with curated quality products that are as unique and special as the receiver. McCoy Kids has quickly become my go to shop for any and all occasions and this holiday the shop is stocked with so many must haves that crossing off my list in one swoop is just that scoop of vanilla on a warm apple pie.

Here are some items I've found that perfectly accompany the presents that will sit under our tree.

Lauren Michel
I'm Lauren, PNW dweller, mother of daughters, sometimes photographer, and explorer. I love McCoy Kids because it's a wonderful small, local shop, and their mission of inclusivity and dedication to social justice is what I look for when supporting businesses. This is a company with heart, one I am grateful that exists to foster my children's imaginations, while providing beautiful and sustainable toys and clothing.

Hi, I’m Mei-Ling, a boy mama of two living in the San Francisco Bay Area of California. I first fell in love with McCoy Kids for their curated collection of diverse children books. And then discovering shortly after that the owner, Lauren, is an incredibly kind and thoughtful individual who is vocal about social justice issues was the cherry on top. Plus she even does free gift wrapping!? Yes, please.

For holiday shopping, I always like to follow the “want, need, wear, read” gifting guideline, and McCoy Kids carries so many items that would be perfect for my boys. In addition to their amazing book collection, they make sure all their toys and clothing are beautiful and sustainable. I’ve put together a simple gift guide to inspire your holiday shopping, and hope you decide to shop small with me this season!
I’m Kara-- I’m a pediatric OT but I currently homeschool my two sons, Milo and Otto. We’re @cecchireads & we share our favorite children’s books accompanied with story time activities that promote developmental learning through fine motor, gross motor, visual perceptual and sensory integrative skills. There’s a few adult reads thrown in because parents need an escape too. We chose to shop at McCoy Kids because we know we are receiving quality products that are thoughtfully chosen, meticulously curated and packaged beautifully for our children. Supporting a small shop is directly supporting another family which, we believe, is the greatest gift.
Hi, I'm Alice, the mother of two daughters in S. California. The About page of McCoy Kids will tell you a lot already about what I love about this shop. Run by the sweetest person, Lauren, you’ll read how uniquely curated items focus on sustainability, quality and diversity. But what the About page doesn’t say is that it is run with the purist of hearts, and everything in those statements is truly as far as you can get from lip service. The monthly tot boxes consistently highlight local artists but truly encourage advocating change being made with what we read with our children — something my community knows is important to me. And that’s the best snapshot into how the entire store is curated. Of course, customer service and all the personal touches (down to the choice of wrapping paper and stickers) are just the cherry on top. I love shopping with McCoy Kids, so I’ve put together a quick gift guide for loved ones in your life from ages 6 days to 60+, so I hope you shop McCoy Kids with me this season too!
Hiiiiiiieee! I'm Annie - I have been a stay at home mom for the last 6.5 years to the two gremlin loves of my life, Auggie (6.5) and Olive (4). We are an eclectic homeschool household and have a love of picture books, open ended play, a good theme party/day/excuse to dress up and decorate, and all things vintage kitsch and weird.
My top list of gifts from McCoy Kids includes (minus books because that would be an entirely different post and your momentary break to scroll the 'gram wouldn't be enough time for my long winded ness on that topic).
Holztiger Animals! What's so special about these? They're heirloom quality, withstand even the fiercest of forest animal battles and play, promote open ended, imaginative play and make *the perfect* stocking stuffer for both toddlers and kids. I have popped a few animals in my kiddos' stockings for the last few years and it's been an easy way to grow their collection. They get daily play in our house and I know that our most played with animals will be saved for years to come.
There really isn't anything I wouldn't recommend from McCoy Kids. They have a thoughtfully curated selection of toys that I always have a running Wishlist of. Peep all the new Kikkerland they just got in - I am OBSESSED and will be taking one of each for my kids this year.
Happiest of holidays. If my selection wasn't your cup of tea, there's SO many good books to choose from on the site. When in doubt, gift a book!
