Goodnight Goon Book Review

Goodnight Goon (A Petrifying Parody) by Michael Rex

Don't be confused, Goodnight Goon is not only a Halloween read. Fun for babies and toddlers alike, this book parody is sure to delight families and become a staple in your bedtime routine.

Some may think of Goodnight Goon as a seasonal book but rest assured, it's a staple in our house year-round. A parody of the baby shower classic Goodnight Moon, Michael Rex really hit it out of the park with Goodnight Goon. We recommend it as a great read for babies and toddlers alike.

It's bedtime for the baby werewolf -- at least I think it's a baby werewolf, our son always calls it a monkey. The book steps us through all of the rituals of winding down for sleep.

Goodnight tomb. Goodnight goon. Goodnight Martians taking over the moon. Goodnight mummies, and goodnight tummies.

What we especially love about this book is how easy it is to get a laugh out of our hard-to-crack toddler. We always make an effort to read it with a spooky voice, rub his tummy along with the mummy and add an over-exaggerated Boooooooo!

His favorite part? No question, it's near the end, when the tiny werewolf finally tells the Goon, "Hey, you! Get under there" as he points under his bed. Because, as we all know, that's where monsters are meant to sleep.

Pick-up Goodnight Goon now, in our shop. We're confident it will become a favorite in your house, too.
